OFFICIAL RULES
GENERAL INFORMATION
- EOW: Epic Online Wrestling is a competitive hybrid e-fed, giving handlers the option to play under micro RP rules or full RP rules. You select which option to play under when you submit your application. You'll find this in the 'Game Mode' section of the app. Whichever option you select will be the format by which you write your roleplays; however, you will face anyone regardless of which mode you choose or they choose.
- Out of Character, Leila owns the fed. Leila is the first point of contact for any and all queries relating to the fed. She and Dave will co-produce Livewire, the bi-weekly event. Dave also takes care of the graphics for the fed.
- Livewire events use a dynamic booking system for their matches, meaning that there is no set match order for shows. Instead, match order is determined by merit, with the main event spots going to fights where the participants put the most effort in. Conversely, show openers will tend to be the fights involving handlers who put less of an effort in. It means anyone – regardless of status – has the ability to get the main event slot and enjoy the salary bonuses that come with it.
GETTING STARTED
- Original applications only. No real wrestlers or celebrities/public figures of any kind. This includes blatant rip-off's of real wrestlers/celebrities.
- Our picture base and theme song policy is ONE per CHARACTER. This means that if ANYONE has a picture base or theme song you wanted to use, you’ll have to select a different base and/or theme song.
- Finishers and Trademark Moves are also exclusive to individual characters. This means if someone else uses a specific finisher or a trademark move, you cannot share that move and must select another. This keeps moves unique and individual to roster members.
- This rule is specific to Dave and his graphic role on the site. We ask that you only select picture bases who have plenty of large (800x600 and above) high resolution images to work with for cuts and blends. Working with low quality images for roster icons and event posters makes things look less attractive and is an unnecessary stress. It can be avoided by using bases where good quality imagery is plentiful. Thank you.
- Once you join the fed, you have FIVE (5) days to select your application and submit a fully completed one for your character. This must be filled out in full to be accepted. If after this time you have not submitted an application, you will be removed from the site.
- The roster limit is 28. At any point if the fed is at capacity, applications will be restricted and potential members will be kept on a pending list until space becomes available. We will always keep people informed where limits are concerned.
- Handlers may handle a maximum of TWO characters at any one time.
LIVEWIRE/SUPERCHARGED INFORMATION
- There are FOUR (4) bi-weekly LIVEWIRE events per cycle, followed by a SUPERCHARGED super show event to end the cycle. SUPERCHARGED is the official name of all LIVEWIRE super shows and will simply be numbered SUPERCHARGED 1, SUPERCHARGED 2, SUPERCHARGED 3, etc.
- To confirm, all LIVEWIRE/SUPERCHARGED events are aired on Sundays (bi-weekly).
- All LIVEWIRE/SUPERCHARGED events will feature summarized matches and full segments.
- Cards for LIVEWIRE/SUPERCHARGED events are posted on Sundays an hour or so after the results from the previous show are posted.
- Staff will post an “opt-in thread” for the next card, approximately 72-hours before the final deadline in the current cycle. If you WANT to be booked for the next card, you MUST opt-in by responding in the thread, telling us to book you. If you do not opt in, you will NOT be booked.
- The RP limit for all LIVEWIRE/SUPERCHARGED events is THREE per CHARACTER if you're in MICRO RP 'Game Mode', and TWO per CHARACTER if you're in FULL RP 'Game Mode'.
- The RP cycle for LIVEWIRE/SUPERCHARGED events is TWELVE (12) days total, running from Sunday night when the card is posted until the Saturday morning after next. However, there are three deadlines. A one-week deadline occurs first (the first Sunday after the card is announced). Handlers will be required to post at LEAST one by the first deadline if they want to max out. After the first deadline, if they have NOT roleplayed yet, they may only do one more RP for the event, regardless of 'Game Mode'. The second deadline is a 24-hour deadline, which occurs 24-hours before the final deadline. After the 24-hour deadline passes, handlers MUST have submitted at least ONE RP. If they have not posted ONE RP by the 24-hour deadline, they will automatically lose and be prevented from producing any RP in the final 24-hours. In that eventuality, it would also count as a no-show.
- The word limit for each MICRO RP is 900 words. The word limit for each FULL RP is 4,000 words. We use Word Counter to check the limits of each RP, so make sure you use it too. If any match RP exceeds the limits of your 'Game Mode', it will be disqualified from judging. Don't take the risk.
- Handlers have FIFTEEN (15) minutes from posting their RP to make any edits or amendments to them. After that time, any editing is strictly prohibited. If a handler is caught editing their RP after the 15 minute window, that RP will be disqualified from the judging.
- If you do not RP for your match, despite specifically requesting to be booked, you run the risk of being removed from the fed. Handlers will have until the results of the latest show are posted to contact staff and explain the reason for the no show. If you do not contact us by that time, you will be removed from the fed.
- Segments for the LIVEWIRE/SUPERCHARGED events are MANDATORY. Characters on the LIVEWIRE roster have their segments written for them automatically, unless you have specifically requested to write your own in your application. If you choose to write your own segments, the deadline by which to submit them is the same as the final RP deadline. If you do not write one, you will be given a warning. Three warnings will result in your removal from the fed.
ROLEPLAY INFORMATION
- Character Development RP’s are encouraged here. All non-match RP’s are OFF CAMERA unless you state otherwise.
- ALL match roleplays are ON CAMERA. If it can be read, it can be seen. Keep this in mind when writing. Any attempts to label portions of your RP “off camera” will be ignored.
- EOW only broadcasts content online so we are relaxed about content. All we ask is that any ON CAMERA content is kept legal. OFF CAMERA, non-match content is fully relaxed. Anything goes, but remember that there can and will be ramifications for actions – which, in extreme cases, could lead to the character being fired. If in doubt, speak to the staff beforehand.
- You cannot use another handler’s character in your roleplays without their prior consent.
ROLEPLAY JUDGING
- Quite simply, single highest scoring RP wins. In the event that the highest scoring RP’s from opponents ties, it will fall to second or third highest scoring RP. In the unlikely event they also tie, the fight will end in a draw. The judging rubric for ALL EVENTS is as follows:
- CONTENT (Scored out of 60 total)
- Build (10): How much did you sell the fight? We don't necessarily mean "how much did you talk up your opponent?" because that's not what this is about. If we’re fans and don't know about either character, how well did you entice us into tuning in to see your fight? Was there intensity? Was there controversy? Did you tell us why this is a 'can't miss' encounter? Respect isn't a factor. We don't want to watch a fight against two people who like each other. We want to watch violence between two enemies.
- Continuity (10): How does your piece encompass existing stories within the fed, including your own and your opponent’s?
- Creativity (10): How creative where you with the piece? The more creative you are with your pieces, the higher you’ll score.
- Entertainment (10): This is simple. If you kept our interest, you’ll score high. If you had us eating out the palm of your hand with every word, you’ll score high. This is totally subjective so we cannot elaborate any more than that.
- Realism (10): How realistic is the piece? This is fairly relaxed given the nature of an 18+ fed, but did you commit a crime on camera? Are you defying the laws of physics? Etc. It needs to be believable.
- Relevance (10): How relevant was the piece, overall, as it pertains to your match? Was it all a little random and self-indulgent? Or was it cleverly linked to the fight in question?
[li]ARGUMENT (Scored out of 30 total)[/li]
- Sell (10): We hate it when characters totally no sell their opponent’s gimmick or personality, whatever it may be. Just sell it. We’re not asking you to be nice or respectful or anything of the sorts, but at least acknowledge that if your opponent says they’re a pirate, then they’re a fucking pirate. Make us believe that this is real and that we’d be dumb to miss it.
- Specifics (10): Avoiding the use of generic trash talk and tailoring the promo to your opponent based on the digging or research you’ve done on them. We want to see a little bit of effort in dissecting your opponent and evidence that you’ve done your homework, rather than just sit and waffle for 1,000 words.
- Valid Points (10): We absolutely hate irrelevant trash talk like “you’re ugly, your mom is fat, you smell, your hair is lame,” etc. We want to hear your character’s argument for why they’re walking out the winner and not just because “you suck” nonsense.
[li]GRAMMAR (Scored out of 20 total)[/li]
- Flow & Structure (5): We grade subjectively on how well your piece flows as a result of proper form.
- Punctuation (5): We deduct 0.2 for every incorrect use of punctuation that we catch.
- Spelling (5): We deduct 0.2 for every spelling error that we catch.
- Vocabulary (5): Use of the correct word or staying true to character’s vernacular, even if purposely flawed.
[li]After each event, handlers can request their scores from staff, allowing them to see how they fared, what they did well and what they need to improve upon moving forward. [/li]
[li]If you lose, you lose. It happens to everyone and you can be rest assured that you lost because you were fairly beaten (whether close or not) by your opponent. We have no favoritism here and are always fully transparent with scores and judging. Any cries of foul – be it public or otherwise – from handlers after defeat will be treated seriously. In certain cases, handlers can be removed from the fed.[/li]

EVERYTHING ELSE
- The fed does have a Twitter account (@theofficialeow) that we will use to promote the site, attract members and network with the community. If you are on Twitter and part of this fed, we expect you to conduct yourself appropriately. Any instances of antagonistic behavior that leads to OOC drama will be looked at and, if we feel it necessary, can result in your removal from the fed. We do not entertain handler conflict of any kind.
- While we’re on Twitter, we don’t monitor it heavily, so if you initiate storylines, feuds, alliances or anything else then we cannot guarantee that it’ll be seen. Because of that fact alone, we’ve created an in-house social media board (Chatter™ Media) that each roster member will have. It’s a personal thread for the character to post updates, photos – whatever they feel like, all IN character. Characters can reply to comments on their own threads and on other threads, engaging in back and forth chat as they would on Twitter. This just means that we will be guaranteed to see who’s interacting, who’s friendly, who’s clashing, etc.
- While there’s no public ranking information, staff do have an official ranking system that we use to determine who gets opportunities on each show. Characters accrue points over each cycle and at the end of the cycle, those who finished highest on our rankings will be rewarded with the main opportunities in the following cycle.
- For the benefit of total transparency, we award the following points for our ranking system:
- Signing up for a fight = 3 Points
- Winning a match = 8 Points
- Per Match Roleplay = 3 Point
- Per CD Roleplay = 2 Points
- Per Fan Access Answer = 1 Point
- Per Vote in any Staff Poll = 1 Point
- Max Out Bonus = Match RP Points Doubled (Applies to each RP cycle. Max Out refers to submitting the maximum number of RP’s available (I.E – 2 RP’s for FULL RP Game Mode and 3 RP’s for MICRO RP Game Mode.)
[li]In addition to the ranking system we use, we also consider general attitude when making our decision over who receives pushes and opportunities. Everyone will be given a chance regardless of “reputation” and you will only be judged based on your conduct on the boards here and on Twitter. However, if you’re negative or behave in a way that we deem instigative then you won’t get any pushes or opportunities. In fact, the chances are you’ll be removed from the fed. We want to encourage a positive, friendly atmosphere here and we can only achieve that with positive, friendly handlers. It doesn't matter if you're negative publicly or negative to one of us privately on a regular basis - we don't want it and if you do it, you're out.[/li]
[li]We have a salary system in place for characters to earn money based on performances. These earnings can be used to purchase items in the EOW Store, which vary from advantages in fights to enhancing their attributes to make them a stronger performer in key areas.[/li]
[li]The amounts for certain actions vary as follows:[/li]
- Signing a Contract - $3,000
- Winning or Retaining a Championship - $1,500
- Winning Bonus - $500
- Competing in a Match - $300
- Posting all role-plays for your match/maxing out - $300
- Producing a CD Roleplay - $100
- Producing a Match Roleplay - $75
- Per Fan Access™ answer - $50
- Per Chatter™ Media Interaction - $10
[li]We have a board called Fan Access™ that allows the Official EOW account to pitch anonymous questions to your characters. Staff handle the account and will submit these questions directly to your character’s individual Fan Access™ thread. You are required to answer these. Think of it as an in-house ‘Ask.fm’ account for your character. Questions will vary but will generally be used to enable staff to get a better understanding of your character, build matches, hype feuds and stir the pot IN character. [/li]
[li]If you ever need time off, just drop either Leila or Dave a line to let them know. If you don’t want to be part of EOW anymore or decide that it’s not for you, all we ask is that you let us know via private message. We understand that finding the right fed for you isn’t easy (we struggled finding the right place as handlers) and we don’t take it personally. The only way you’ll burn bridges with us is if you flake or leave without having the decency to let us know. [/li]
[li]And finally, staff reserve the right to remove handlers at any time for breaches in any of the aforementioned rules. As much as handlers have a choice of where to roleplay, Leila – as the fedhead – has a choice on who plays here. Choice goes both ways. Come in, get involved, be active, be positive and be friendly. Those are the behaviors of handlers we want to make part of the EOW core.[/li]
