Why did EOW sign you?: To answer that question, we need to go back. Once upon a time, a twenty-somthing Wade Grimes made a name for himself on the regional circuit. With a stellar collegic wrestling pedigree, and a reputation for being a no-nonsense workhorse, Wade "The Grinder" Grimes, solidified himself as a top prospect at a young age. While his style was nevery flashy, he got the job done, got the job done often, and got the job against an array of different styles. All talk early in his career turned to when he would move to the national stage.
And then he met Sasha.
Almost ten years Wade's junior, Sasha was a young, demure wet-behind-the-ears rookie who sought out Wade Grimes for training. He started as her mentor, and as the story goes, as her success grew, so did her confidence, and with that, so did their relationship. This was, of course, back when she was still Sasha Pemberton (yes, of the famed Pemberton Sporting Goods-- the luctrative family business started by Sasha's sole living relatives, her aunt uncle Phylis and Max Pemberton)-- before she began to buy into her own hype, dropped the family name, and replaced it with the surname "Wilde." But we're getting ahead of ourselves.
Wade opted out of several offers to move up to the big leagues to remain by Sasha's side on the regional circuit, and the two soon became a tag team sensation. They married in 2007. at the peak of their tag team career, and continued a nice run, personally and professionally, for a good
five years.
And then, as is the case in so many stories premised on quick success and young romance, things began to turn. Some say it was because the media began to hype Sasha more than Wade, and some say it's because Sasha bought into the hype. Wade was always low key, no flash; but Sasha, well, this was a whole new world to her. Suddenly, the offers that used to come Wade's way-- the ones he would turn down-- stopped coming his way and started coming Sasha's way. It caused tension between the two.
Now, whether or not the rumors are true-- that this tension drove Wade into the arms of another woman in that month leading up to the infamous "Chattanooga Chairshot"-- is yet to be reconciled (and Wayne will deny it to this day). And whether, on that night in Tennessee, during Wade and Sasha's title defense of the River City Wrestling tag team titles, Sasha meant to split her husband's skull open with that steel chair, or it was a misfire, is also yet to be reconciled (and Sasha will deny it to this day). What is certain, howeover, is on that evening, Wade's skull was not the thing to fracture-- so did the professional wrestling careers of Sasha Wilde and her husband, Wade Grimes.
The duo disappeared after that event. They announced a sabbatical to work on their marriage. For a while, the speculation over whether they would make it as a couple, and whether they would make a comeback, remained a topic of conversation within the industry, at least on the regional level. But as time passed, and new blood surfaced, they had all but been forgotten.
Like so many fools before them, they decided that having a child would fix things between them. Sasha became pregnant and had a child, and then threw herself into her dual role of mother and fitness / yoga instructor. Meanwhile, Wade took up managing one of the regional Pemberton Sporting Goods stores in Paramus, New Jersey.
Our story picks up years later, and finally answers the question of what happened to the once-promising duo of Wade Grimes and Sasha Wilde.
PERSONALITY INFORMATION
(You are required to select specific traits of your character’s personality. You must have at LEAST five positive traits and at LEAST five negative ones, as nobody is 100% good or bad. How you behave in roleplays and segments will determine your crowd status.)
POSITIVE TRAITS:
- Articulate
- Athletic
- Hardworking
- Independent
- Rational
NEGATIVE TRAITS:
- Angry
- Argumentative
- Antisocial
- Miserable
- Negative
Personality Overview: He's not a bad guy-- it's just that, at this point in his career, he's bitter and a bit cranky. He has no patience for loudmouths, or the flashy primadonnas who, in his mind, embody everything that went wrong with his wife. He wears a constant chip on his shoulder.
Why they’d be cheered: As stated, he's not a bad guy. He's not a rulebreaker. He doesn't carry ill will toward the fans. Those that recall Wade from his glory days will recall him findly, as a workshorse, a technician who brought it every fight. Some many also find appeal in his "every man" attitude. He has no pretentions about himself.
Why they’d be booed: Damn, that chip on his shoulder can, at times, be the size of a boulder.
Reasons to Compete:
- Personal Vendetta: The primary reason Wade has returned is because his estranged wife Sasha has returned, and he will be damned if that bitch is going to garner fame, fortune and success while he sits idly by on the sidelines.
Attitude towards Teamwork:

- The Lone Wolf: Your character would never work as part of a team, even if it meant life would be easier by joining forces. They cannot be relied upon to work together. They came into the world alone and will go out alone. They are the epitome of lone wolf.
Tendency to Cheat:

- Sometimes
PERFORMANCE INFORMATION
Theme Music: ‘Under My Thumb’ – Social Distortion
Valet/Manager: None
Wrestling Experience: 18 years
Wrestling Style:
(Please delete ALL that DO NOT apply to your character)
- The Wrassler’: Relies on a hard-hitting, old school style of brawling when inside the ring. Takes a traditional wrestling style and makes it relevant once again.
- The Technician: Relies on a catch-as-catch-can style of wrestling, featuring a variety of suplexes, submission holds and ground based wrestling.
- The Strong Stylist: Relies on hard-hitting (often stiff) moves and sharp strikes. Whether it’s punches, chops, kicks, throws or submission holds, this fighter wants to hit hard, hit fast and hurt their foes.
In-Ring Attitude: Attitude-wise, he fights with a chip on his shoulder. At this point in his life, he is a walking cocktail of resentment and aggression, and when he is in the ring, it is his opportunity to unload.
Tendency to End Fights:
- Outwrestle: Beats the opponent using their preferred wrestling style.
- Outlast: Uses their superb conditioning to wait for the opponent to tire, before ending the fight on their terms.
In-Ring Strengths:
- Conditioning. Solid stamina, with good endurance and recovery to boot. Wade can take punishment, and take a fight into deep waters.
- Technique: Maintains a solid wrestling base, made up up various takedowns and suplexes, which allows him to put fights on the mat often; and his mat wrestling pedigree means that once he is on top of you, he is difficult to get off.
- Striking: Wade hits pretty hard.
In-Ring Weaknesses:
- Aversion to Heights: "Those fucking fairies who think they can fly have ruined the sanctity of this sport. You will never catch me spending a second in the gym training the aerial game." --Wade Grimes, Pro Wrestling Illustrated, 2006
- Speed (Or lack thereof): In his prime, Wade was not a speed demon, and at 42, he is certainly not at the peak, when it comes to velocity.
-Focus. There was a time when Wade's focus was once of his strongest attributes: that was before that bitch of a wife went and wrecked his life and rearranged his motivations. Now fighting primarily to stick it to her, he may tend to lose focus at opportune times, depending upon what is going on in his ongoing rivalry with his betrothed.
