It had been a few nights since her night on the town. Things pretty much calmed down after that. Deacon had accepted the fact that she was attacked for whatever reasoning Kimitsu had while the bruise itself had just about disappeared from Candy's face. But knowing Candy was going back to New York on Wednesday, Deacon suggested they have some alone time at the condo today. The couple was cuddled up on the couch watching television when there was on knock at the door.
"I'll get it."
As Candy got up from the couch and went over to the door, she opened it to find Mason standing on the other side with his motorcycle helmet tucked under his one arm.
"Hey Maddy, I didn't realize you were coming."
Candy still smiled almost instantly as she stepped forward to hug him.
"Thought I'd check on you."
Mason replied as he hugged her with his free arm. As the two of them pulled back from each other, Mason started studying her face.
"I told you it was almost heeled."
Before anything else could be said, Deacon pulled Candy back by the arm as he stood out in front of Mason.
"You got a lot of nerve coming here."
He spoke in an irritated tone as he stared Mason down.
"There are many nerves in my body. None of which brought me here. I came to check on Candy to see how she was doing. And you are?"
Neither man had came face to face before. But Deacon was aware of what Mason looked like from the shows.
"Maddy...this is my boyfriend, Deacon.", she cut in before Deacon could say anything as she motioned to him with her hand, "He's just a little upset with you because he thinks you're at fault with my attack somehow."
"Oh, understandable.", Mason looked at Deacon, "No need to expect me for having anything to do with that. I didn't want to leave but Candy asked me to. I shouldn't have left. Way I see it, that's my fault. And as I said, I'm here just to see how she's doing."
Mason extended his hand to Deacon to shake it. When Deacon showed some reluctance, Candy nudged him with her elbow. A moment later, Deacon sighed and accepted the handshake as he looked over in Candy's direction.
"Happy now, sweetness?"
"Yes, I am.", she replied with a smile as she stood on her tippy toes to kiss his cheek, "Now why don't you come inside and I'll make us some lunch?"
Candy looked at Mason, as she awaited his response.
"If Deacon has no problem with me sharing a meal with you guys. I know I should have called first.", his eyes went back to Deacon as he added, "I hope I didn't interrupt anything. I did want to discuss plans for the next show so that what happened last time doesn't happen again."
"I wouldn't mind hearing about those plans myself. So you might as well come in."
As Deacon moved back finally giving him some space, Mason nodded as he stepped inside the condo. Candy was all smiles as she closed the door to end the scene. Despite the initial tension, that had gone easier than she expected. Now Candy was about to share a meal with her two most favorite people in the world. YAY!
