So I've been on a mini lossing streak as of late and was curious as to what other people think on the matter.
Are wins and losses important to you or irrelevant?
For me wins and losses are what keeps the game going. A good story is amazing, but if I lose constantly it starts to take the fun out of the game for me.
How 'bout y'all?

Not me. I like to work of a loss as much as I like to work off a win. I've yet to win a match in EOW yet and I think I, myself, am on a 4 loss losing streak in total. Really doesn't bother me at all. I know I can't win every match and I've seen and currently enjoying someone's story in another Fed despite them being on an 8 loss losing streak in that fed.
Everyone is different, and fair play to you on not liking to lose constantly. I wouldn't say they are irrelevant, they are a part of the story, but I don't think they really matter to me personally. I'll lose to people (probably most people here, who are very, very good) and with EOW, Davey and Leila, everyone looks good in a match despite a loss. They never write anyone as ineffective and stick true to characters.
If I had to put it. They are about 10% important to me. If I never win a match here, so be it lol. Probably jinxed myself, but I will work it around the story.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind a loss. I don't always have to win. I like to run with a loss and make it fuel to a fire. But if I constantly lose, it kills the fun for me.
I'm all about a good story though and will gladly lose for storyline purposes.

I totally see your point, you do want to have your moment with your hand held up and have some impact. I do understand that. I am always about a good story too. I also don't really mind constant losses either really. I honestly never really expect to win, maybe that's why losing or constant losses don't bug me. I'm not that competitive in nature. But I see your point. I didn't mean to imply anything. Sorry

I couldn't care less if I win or lose. No matter the outcome, I'll still be able to tell my story and to me; that is what makes this game fun. Starting and finishing a story. Anyways, going on a losing streak always gives ya something to work for, the motherfucking win, lol. Plus losing tells ya, you have area's that need to be worked on; which help me improve. Did for me, I know that. Two years ago I went 2-12(The wins were given to me, due to handlers shelving characters.) Since then, I've only lost 7 times - two where no shows.

As one of the old dogs around, I have been doing this for longer than I should admit lol. I do understand where you are coming from. Of course, the competitive side of your personality wants to win. I think that's human nature if you play a game you want to win that game. There were times in the past that I actually went years without losing. But those were the old days and now I do lose a lot and I don't really think too much about it, because I do enjoy Stories and after running a few feds myself I really like to read what is happening with people and how things are unfolding more so than I do who won when and how many times. I can understand where losing does take the fun out of it at times. Especially if you are against a person that you really, really want to beat because you figure them to be both a douche in and out of character, lol. But you will turn it around, we all have those moments where we are like dang I have lost forever, I quit. Just dig deeper into your character, find ideas of how he is dealing with his losses. Maybe he is training harder, maybe he is drinking excessively, maybe he is calling up old trainers to find out where it all has gone wrong.
There is a lot of fun you can have off a loss because they always help you to understand your character more. Plus these owners here seem like the type that will give you votes and show you what the Judges are saying you are lacking. Then you can start to turn that around as well. Good luck to you.

Here's what I'm looking at. Drake Hardin mentions how your character is taking losing. "Maybe he is training harder..." and I look up at $5 short of $5,000. So if he is training harder, what area is he training harder in. This is the first fed I have ever seen where we have statistics of various areas. So if Declan is training harder, what area? In your profile I see technician as one of the styles and I look down at the statistics where even though it may not be the lowest point, technique is 70/100. So then I go here eowrestling.boards.net/thread/17/training-camps-attribute-boosters and if you were to buy the silver package, you'd still have some left over, and instead of 70 you'd push up to 80. Which would make training believable. Playing a game you want to know that from time to time you're going to win. Since it's based on writing, look at the judging guidelines. Again, this place is one of the best I've seen that explains those areas in more detail. If you read down the list and you can see an area where you know you're not touching, try working on that area a bit more. In the meantime, contact Ernie and ask for I'm guessing would be the points in those judging guidelines for your RP. That way you can see where they also feel where the writing may have fell short. Drake Hardin is right on when he talks about getting deeper into knowing your character. The hardest thing about writing for my character is that I gotta write for 20 minutes and leave it alone becomes it creeps me out. I remember how this guy was when the stuff was going on with him. It wasn't pretty. Though I write it a bit more exaggerated, it really isn't far off from what I had seen. At the same time, I will never be able to write the reality of what the guy went through. So I make it a Hollywood style type of deal. But in your case, there could be a character out there that you might be basing your character from. If that's the case, look at that closer. If that's not the case, then who is Declan Black really? That's the stuff that people want to read. You're writing a story every time you post a RP whether for a match or CD. So like Drake Hardin says, dig. As for wins and losses. I don't care about it. If I lose, I think about who I lost to. I think back to remembering a RPer named Ravyn. She was amazing. We RPed for about 7 years together. She'd kick my ass every single time. We ended up running a fed together. Even when I was at my best, I was never able to beat her. The main reason was because she wrote stuff that was believable and she made it interesting. It was like reading a book that you can't put down even though you said you'd only read 6 chapters that day and you end up finishing the book 8 hours later. With Livewire you got 750 words to work with and you want to make those count and make it interesting too. So get with Ernie before doing anything else. Ask for that guideline evaluation thing. While you're waiting, look at the guidelines on how RPs are judged in the welcome pack, and see if there's something you can catch that you struggle with in writing. When it comes to IC, is he training and what is he training to get better at, and make it believable. We start with 850 stat points, and have the opportunity to buy more points with our money. Why hold onto it? It's virtual cash that just keeps adding up. Soon as I reach a certain amount, I'm going to buy what I want. Main reason is because the effort that Ernie and Leila put into putting stuff like that out there, and because it makes sense for a character to get better in certain areas that make sense for their style. Win lose, write stuff you enjoy with this character. If writing for him is fun for you, the time you put into your character makes the win taste better.

I think it's important to remember the following:
1. Livewire is only two episodes in, which is not enough time to develop a streak of any legitimate kind, be it a winning streak or a losing streak.
2. Week one was every roster member against each other. You finished 4th out of the 10 involved. That's not to be taken lightly.
3. This week you finished 2nd highest overall in the scoring of everyone. Unfortunately for you, you were facing the Champion (who is champ for a reason, it's got to be said) who just so happened to score highest out of everyone in the scoring this week. So had you fought literally anyone else, you'd have won.
The issue, in my mind, is not what you're doing, but rather who you're up against. Just keep doing what you're doing, you've had your scores from me for both weeks. You know where lacks and where's strong. Continue to do what you're doing well and work on improving where you're weaker.

Wins and losses aren't everything. Of course, everyone wants to win. But it doesn't work that way. Someone has to lose in every match. So as long as you're having fun, that's all that matters . Just work with what you've been given.

Ok lol. So the way I worded this came off wrong. I wasn't asking about myself really, although I appreciate everyone's thought in my own situation. I was asking how everyone else felt about win and losses.
This discussion came after I lost a match in another fed I'm in and was talking to a handler about wins and losses. I'm no way am I bummed in EOW. I just wanted to know what everyone else was thinking in the matter.
Thanks g the kind words and advice though lol. You guys rock.
