Brittany convinces Mr. Mason to watch Kimitsu’s matches, even though he had no interest. He agrees so Brittany would stop insisting. He doesn’t pay attention to the matches. Brittany does. She hasn’t been able to watch the show with everything Mason has her do. Brittany pays especially close attention to Kimitsu’s most recent match with Jill Lorder.
“You see? Lorder controlled most of that match and Kimitsu still ends up winning the match.”
Mason shakes his head and stands up. He stretches and looks down at Brittany.
“I’m not Jill Lorder.”
“What's that supposed to mean?”
Mason heads to the small hotel room’s kitchenette.
“Exactly what it sounds like, Britt.”
“Stop calling me Britt!”
Mason smiles as he grabs the loaf of wheat bread and sets it on the counter. He opens the little fridge, grabs the package of roasted turkey, and a small jar of mayo. He sets them on the counter and grabs the box of plastic utensils. He takes out a plastic knife as Brittany waits patiently for Mason to explain what he meant about not being Jill Lorder. She can’t take it anymore and breaks the silence.
“Well?!”
“Jill Lorder and Kimitsu Zombie are like…”
Mason opens the mayo and begins to spread the mayo on the two slices of bread.
“…Subway.”
“Subway?”
Mason looks up at her with a smile on his face.
“Yup.”
Mason puts the turkey on the bread and closes the package. Brittany rolls her eyes at him with a little smile on her face.
“Did I just see a smile?”
“Shut up.”
Mason finishes making his sandwich. He takes a bite and holds up a finger so Brittany will give him a moment. He finishes what he has in his mouth before he explains.
“Subway’s menu is full of choices. Now, you’d think that the fans would be the customers, but not when it comes to Livewire. Ernie is that one customer that lost a ton of weight, ended up being really gross, and got into trouble. Every other week, he’s got some new sub he wants to sink his perversion into.”
Brittany starts giggling just thinking about Ernie Parker and his way with the women on Livewire as of late. Mason looks at Brittany as she takes that comment into mind. He takes another bite, savoring the taste of the roasted turkey.
“Unfortunately, Ernie’s stuck waiting to be served, but Kathleen Saxon has said, ‘no sub for you’.”
Brittany giggles again. Mason takes another bite of his sandwich and walks back over to sit down beside her. Finishing his bite, he looks at Brittany.
“What does that have to do with Kimitsu?”
Brittany brings her feet up to sit cross-legged on the small sofa beside Mason. She’s trying hard not to laugh at what he’s saying.
“Kimitsu is the tuna going bad that gets thrown out. Customers came in all day asking for other subs, but the tuna just sits there smelling up the place. Kimitsu’s stinky tactics with Candy are going to result in me throwing out the trash.”
Brittany starts laughing so hard she snorts.
“She’s the seafood sensation that nobody wants.”
Brittany’s jaw drops.
“That’s a bit much, don’t you think?”
“What do you mean?”
“Seafood sensation?! Really?!”
Mason thinks about that and shakes his head.
“I see what you mean. It’s just an unpopular sub. But, just imagine instead that she’s the tuna when the only thing left to put on it is guacamole.”
Brittany gives him a weird look.
“Please tell me you’ve never ate that.”
Mason laughs.
“Wait. What about Candy? If she were something at Subway, what would she be?”
“Candy is like the double chocolate cookies that everyone wants because there’s never any left at the end of the day.”
Mason takes the last bite of his sandwich, and speaks with his mouth full.
“I’m throwing out the trash and Kimitsu’s foul odor with it.”
Brittany rolls her eyes again.
“Kimitsu may have beat Jill Lorder even though Jill controlled most of the match. Kimitsu may be street smart, have an unshakeable will, and have excellent training. But, she lacks confidence. It may not be easy, but I have never faced easy. She's fast, but one punch and it'll be lights out for Kimitsu. The best things are kept simple."
Mason smiles as the scene fades out.
