Another one from Davey back in Engage!
Does ending a match via submission bury the loser? Or is it perfectly acceptable?
I'd love to hear reasons why people think that submission defeats DO bury the loser. I'd also love to hear reasons why people think that submission defeats do NOT bury the loser.
What's the big deal? Is it utterly humiliating? Does it make someone look weak? Should it only be used in squash fights?
What are your thoughts and/or feelings on this subject?

In a stat-based e-fed like EOW, tapping out has to be as viable and as possibly common as any other finish, otherwise there's no real advantage for the handlers who choose to put a major portion of their points in those two attributes. Plus, as it connects to the other question, if we ARE assuming that EOW is set in a world where pro-wrestling is legit, then none of the normal 'pro-wrestling' considerations regarding using a submission finish really apply. Tapping out doesn't carry any sort of stigma in MMA, why would it in a legit pro-wrestling?

I think its perfectly fine to tap out. I said it on Engage, if you get caught and your in trouble, why risk breaking something and being out for weeks/months when a tap out means you can fight the next fight. I think maybe people think of it as emasculation? I don't really see it imo. Tapping out doesn't bury the person either. I always see it from the MMA perspective having watched a few, you get caught in that move, there is weight and fatigue, so getting to the ropes might not be a possibility and tapping out is perfectly acceptable. The next fight between them really has no stigma. It really gives the person a learning curve to better themselves from.

I agree with what most people have said in that it is perfectly fine to tap but I do understand the reasoning behind people who think that it isn't. If you think as wrestling from more of an MMA standpoint, it's perfectly alright to tap as it prevents you from any further damage, but if you look at it from more of a sports entertainment standpoint then I guess it can be considered by some people as a way of showing that you cannot take any more punishment from the person. Some people see as more of a dominance thing, I guess. There are many different ways to take tapping out, but my opinion is that it is perfectly fine.

Playing devils advocate for a second here. if someone really didn't like the idea of tapping out, in EOW you could put 100 points in your submission defence. I know the fedheads take the attributes into consideration when writing the matches.
Otherwise, I consider any finish a chance to sell a story and expand your character.
