I have an issue. I have checked my rp and in google docs where I type it...It sits at 3999 words. When I put it in the page to post it says I'm over by 173 words...why is this case and does that mean I need to condense my rp down? Because in document forum it's under the limit but for some reason it's over on the forum by 173 words... Just curious on what I should do because I don't want my rp disqualified because it's over the limit. Thank you.

Yeah, we looked into this previously and for whatever reason, the forum word counter is counting words with apostrophes as two words. Words like it's, that's, etc. are being counted as it is, that is, etc. If it lets you post it, just post it. I'm sure Leila will be cool with it.

Okay thanks for the clarification!

No problemo. For what it's worth, I just copied and pasted the RP into a word doc and got 3,827. So who knows? Either way it's fine!

I cut it down a bit before I posted. Missed out some details in my small CD section. Missed changing the text color to that first part to the default...oh well. The important thing. I posted.

I've also noticed that when I write an RP in google docs, it can give me a higher word count because it also counts the "words" used for coding colors, etc.

For whatever reason, even in Deathcore and RSW, I have always had to trim some off of rp's when I transferred them from google docs to the site and I don't ever code my rp's until they're on the site getting ready to be posted.
It never really ends up being a huge deal, though, because with a 750 word limit it usually only ends up being about 25 to 30 words... 50 at the most.

I'm gonna speak to Valentina Lemay today about maybe just scrapping the word counter and having us do it manually. It takes all of an extra 10-20 seconds to copy and paste the RP into a word doc and count the limit. If it's over 750/4000, we'll notify the handler and not count it. People know the word limits anyway so I can't see anyone going over them, especially if they know we're checking them.

The one thing about using the counter here on the site is that it keeps it even across the board so everyone is using the same counter. Some word processors don't count words that aren't spelled properly, some don't count single letter words "a" or "I." Google docs obviously counts differently, etc. So someone who is spot on at 750 in their word processor could be over the limit in another. Using something like wordcounter.net to check would at least allow everyone to check against the same counter you are using to check?
