*The following is a transcript of an excerpt of Declan Black's radio interview with That Wrestling Show on SiriusXM 89, hosted by Johnny Diamond and Nick Gomez. At the 29:25 mark of the interview, we come in.*
Nick Gomez: So, with promoting the first EOW Livewire show on September 11th, available on Hulu, you haven't been able to talk much about your opponents. We'd like to give you that opportunity. Johnny's got a list of them, he'll say a name, you say a short piece about why you think you can beat them, and then we'll send you off after you tell us why you're going to win. Sound good?
Declan Black: Sounds great. Johnny, who's the first name you've got?
Johnny Diamond: Aidan Carlisle.
Declan: Heard a lot of talk, haven't seen much. When somebody is that into promoting themselves as Billy Badass, though, it's usually to make up for something lacking. Whatever that is, you can be sure I'll find it and exploit it.
Johnny: Ash Scion.
Declan: Hang on, let me get the quotes. "Historically renowned for her stamina, endurance & her almost mutant-esque healing factor." Well, who renowned her? Because if it's Ash Scion, then it doesn't count. I noticed also that her whole sales pitch mentioned a lot of fictional characters, and that fits, because Ash Scion lives in a fictional world, evidently. If she wants to dog my stamina, something I'm very well known for and that I pride myself on, then Ash has proven she didn't bother doing her homework on me.
Johnny: Cyrus Riddle.
Declan: You have to respect his career, and all that goes with it. But the fact is, he's 14 years pro, 32 years old, the veteran of a lot of extreme matches and travel. That body has to be broken down to hell. He takes the wrong hit, especially in matches like this, where that happens a lot more....then suddenly he's calling it a career.
Johnny: Dick Deveraux.
Declan: The oldest man in this match, and not as experienced as that would lead you to believe. His attitude, his style...they're admirable, sure, but when you don't have that veteran instinct behind you, they can be very dangerous. And I think that'll be the case here.
Johnny: Jeremiah Grayson.
Declan: Young, hungry, great athlete, willing to sacrifice his body to win. But he's not the first of those, and most of 'em take that risk that was too big. Is he going to be able to control himself in a ladder or cage environment, or is he going to look for that big stunt? We'll see.
Johnny: Kimitsu Zombie.
Declan: Again, haven't seen much of her work, but all I've heard is quite positive. Very young and very inexperienced, though.
Johnny: Trixie.
Declan: She's easy to underestimate, for sure...but being so new, there are a lot of veteran things she won't have picked up. Footwork, positioning. If that can be exploited, she's in a lot of trouble.
Johnny: Van Quinn.
Declan: Full disclosure, I was a big fan of his college days. But I find the idea that he can just jump into wrestling from football like that to be insulting. This is the most demanding sport there is. Guys work 300 days a year, no pads, no water breaks, no off-season. He's getting a rude awakening very soon.
Johnny: Zack Fantana.
Declan: Zack Fantana may be deluded about the size of his fanbase, but he's a superb performer. However, the man seems to like spotlight a whole lot more than glory...and if he does one of those big, stupid dives off a ladder, it's a lot of spotlight, and no glory.
Johnny: And finally, why are you going to win?
Declan: I know what it is to compete at that level, like nobody in that field does. I know the feeling of being at the top of the mountain, and that makes me know where I'm willing to go to get back. It's like an addict...you can't understand their obsession until you share it. And I know, I sit here today knowing, that that obsession is going to put me back on top.
Nick: Mr. Black, it was a pleasure having you here on That Wrestling Show, and we encourage our listeners to check out the inaugural EOW Livewire on Hulu on September 11th from the sold out Hammerstein Ballroom here in New York City, featuring Declan himself!
Declan: It was a blast!
