Hey Jeremiah Greyson, Dude, spot on. I finally got around to reading this and my expectations were totally surpassed. Your writing is - and has always been, for as long as I've known you - solid, so really my focus was on the content and the fleshing out of the character. I saw in previous feedback to you that some people didn't see him as a face or a heel, but rather just a normal guy who might lean slightly towards the good guy side. With that in mind, how do you respond? You give him "one reason". And it was perfect. All of us have been directly affected, or know someone who's been directly affected by the big C, so you made his motivations instantly relatable. That, right away, puts Greyson into the category of likability that so many strive for. You've also added some dimension to the character - intense enough that you can take it any direction you want, mould the character accordingly and create something really special as a result. If she survives it, how does that impact him? If she dies, what will it do to the nice guy? Does he stay true to himself? Does he hit a depression and become pretty unpleasant and/or deep? Does he bust his ass to win everything for her memory? If time is running out, does his attitude reflect the stress of achieving everything he wants to in time for her to enjoy it with him? There's so much to explore and you've put the character in a great position where you can go any way you like and it can work. This is only the first real CD piece but it couldn't have established him any better. Props, broski.

I appreciate your kind words as always, Dave. I felt like I needed to give him some kind of dimension with a real world problem since he is kind of that "normal guy" otherwise. Honestly, I was a bit concerned that I wouldn't write his personal feelings and the situation with his mother in a way that does the gravity of a disease like cancer, and the effect it has on everyone, justice.
It's encouraging to hear that it came off well as I'm developing a fondness for this character and would really like to see him grow and progress here.
