There was blood under her fingernails, blood on her lips, and teeth marks on her neck. Fingertip bruises dotted her arms and legs. Every bite mark, every scratch that showed on what skin the towel wrapped under her arms didn’t cover was a badge of hedonistic honor. She was exposed, literally and metaphorically, because she had nothing she desired to hide. Judgment was simply jealousy in disguise.
The camera was hyper-focused on her, everything beyond the door to the bathroom of the motel room indistinguishable but for vague shapes and colors. Such was the apparently tattooed body that lay still and prone on the bed amid the dark sheets. The heavy, deep-sleep breathing was just barely audible. It was all Aidan could do not to grin at herself in the mirror as she scrubbed at her nails and watched the claret water swirl down the drain. Knowing that she had her phone propped up on the medicine chest recording didn't deter her in the least.
“I hate New York, the whole damn state. Rochester, NYC, Albany, it doesn't matter. The whole thing is a giant shit stain on the country. But I suppose now it'll have at least a few pleasant connotations. Yesterday's contract signing with Ernie, and then this little surprise celebration... Funny who you run into...”
Her brown eyes spared a glance out into the room, one corner of her full lips twitching up in a moment of amusement. She shook her head at herself. Maybe she'd never learn, but she'd have fun with every “mistake.”
“Two days ago I never would've expected to be here. Yet here I am, much to the chagrin of those who signed before me and probably a few of those who came after. Livewire's set to be a breathtaking spectacle of competition, a hurricane of violence that Hermine will bow to and applaud.
“I'll be right there in the eye of the storm, from start to finish. There's nothing about this whole thing that doesn't favor me for victory. I've already proven my ability to go the distance when Bryan Williams and I walked away the winners of the Joker's Wild Elimination Series earlier this year. Ash Scion would just love for everyone to forget she was knocked out of that in the first round while members of her team continued on... to fail.
“The initial qualifying match doesn't worry me much. I'm aware that the single biggest threat to me in this competition is Cyrus Riddle, but the odds of us ending up starting against one another are small. To this day he and I have never once squared off one on one, and we are two and two in tag matches. We've already decided that the two of us are going to ensure we walk out holding those Championships.
“The real fun comes after the Elimination Match. Normally I'd light up with glee at the idea of a ladder match, something that lends itself perfectly to my skill set. But this time I am looking past that to the cage match for the EOW Heavyweight Championship. I'm making no secret of it; that's the prize my eyes are glued to.
“In my nine years in the ring I've yet to hold a top tier championship. Tag team championships, second and third tier championships, even hardcore championships which I relish most of all, certainly. But never that top prize. It's my white whale.
“There's no doubt in my mind that I have the ability to be top tier. This is my chance to prove it. On Livewire's very first show I have the opportunity to set the bar and set it so high that it will take others the act of a higher power to get up there and reach it for the chance to go toe-to-toe with me.
“Isn't that how it should be? If the EOW Heavyweight Championship is the pinnacle of achievement on Livewire, then only those fit to make it there should be able to hold it. Anyone who's been paying attention knows I have every ability to turn away those trying to take what's mine.
“I'm into my fifth month as Boardwalk Internet Champion and I have no plans to let go of it anytime soon. It is, however, time that I become double champion, representing both companies that I now work for at the highest levels. It's time that I show everyone, not just Boardwalk and EOW, why Aidan Carlisle is The Alpha Bitch.”
